Three-Phase Transformer Rectifier Project

Overview

This project involved the design and manufacture of a three-phase transformer with a integrated rectifier system for a client operating mobile fairground rides. The equipment was required to provide a dependable DC power source capable of supporting dynamic and cyclic load conditions typical of amusement ride operation. The system was engineered and supplied as a bespoke industrial power solution.

Transformer Details

The transformer was designed for three-phase AC input and purpose-wound to match the client’s site supply characteristics. It incorporated high-grade insulation materials and robust mechanical construction to withstand frequent transportation, vibration, and varying ambient conditions. The transformer provided electrical isolation and stable supply characteristics to ensure consistent performance of the rectification stage.

Client Requirements

The client required a power system capable of reliable operation across multiple temporary sites, with tolerance to fluctuating supply conditions. Key requirements included high reliability, compact and transport-friendly construction, and the ability to handle intermittent peak loads generated during ride start-up and operation. Safety, durability, and minimal maintenance were also critical due to public-facing use.

Our Solution

A three-phase transformer rectifier unit was developed to deliver controlled DC output suitable for ride control and drive systems. The rectifier assembly was selected and rated to handle load variations while maintaining output stability. Protective features were incorporated to safeguard against overloads, thermal stress, and supply disturbances, ensuring dependable operation in a mobile environment.

Benefits

The completed system provides stable and reliable DC power across a wide range of operating conditions. Its rugged construction supports repeated transport and setup, reducing downtime and maintenance requirements. The tailored electrical design improves operational safety and efficiency, enabling the client to run fairground rides with confidence across multiple locations.
